Fountain Nozzles for Engineered Water Effects

Select fountain nozzles as part of the hydraulic layout: start with the intended water effect, then coordinate operating flow, pressure, mounting level and service access.

Start with the effect and its location

A nozzle schedule should connect each water effect to a position on the site plan. Record the intended jet direction, approximate display envelope, audience distance and surrounding pedestrian areas. This gives the hydraulic designer a usable brief and helps the team compare alternatives for the same location.

Use the complete fountain solution to define the show, basin and operating requirements. Use this equipment page to resolve the nozzle interfaces within that design. A photograph can explain the desired appearance, but it does not establish the flow, pressure or mounting arrangement of the proposed nozzle.

ArrangementSelection questionsLayout information to confirm
Individual vertical jetsWhat is the intended display height, visual spacing and operating sequence?Jet locations, branch connections, alignment adjustment and access to each nozzle.
Foam or aerated effectsDoes the proposed nozzle depend on a defined surrounding water level?Normal operating level, expected level variation and the mounting reference for the selected model.
Fan, arch and directional effectsWhere should the sheet or stream land within the water feature?Direction, clearances, landing area and the relationship between adjacent effects.
Grouped or changing displaysWhich effects operate together and which change independently?Nozzle grouping, valve or pump control zones and the sequence used for hydraulic review.

Coordinate flow, pressure and water level

Ask for the operating flow and pressure associated with the chosen display, rather than choosing a pump from jet height alone. The pump selection must account for the combined demand of the operating group and the losses through the actual distribution layout. Review the pump duty point and nozzle information together before finalising a schedule.

Water-level behaviour is model dependent. Some nozzle designs require a particular immersion level; other designs produce their effect independently of the surrounding level. Confirm the proposed model's installation instructions, water quality requirements and mounting details. Keep pipe connections and the alignment mechanism accessible for cleaning and adjustment.

What to include in a nozzle enquiry

  • A marked plan showing nozzle positions, basin edges and nearby public areas.
  • Reference images or a short description of each intended effect and its sequence.
  • Available hydraulic information, including the proposed operating groups.
  • Normal water level, water source and the planned filtration arrangement.
  • Installation interfaces, connection requirements and maintenance access.
  • Any required drawings, material information or project-specific approval documents.

Review the proposed equipment schedule

Compare proposals against the same effect brief. Check the drawing reference, operating conditions, connection details and responsibilities for installation. Clarify what is included in the proposal and which site interfaces must be provided by the civil, mechanical or electrical contractor.

During commissioning, compare the observed pattern with the agreed reference under the documented operating conditions. Record alignment settings, operating groups and any changes made to the schedule. Include cleaning access and replacement information in the handover material so that the installed effect can be maintained.

Equipment planning questions

Can one nozzle specification be used across the whole fountain?

Different display positions can require different effects or operating conditions. Build the schedule by effect and hydraulic group, then confirm where a common model is appropriate.

Is a maximum jet-height figure enough for selection?

Confirm the flow and pressure for the intended effect, together with mounting and connection information. The final operating result also depends on the installed hydraulic layout.

Can Lishi review a nozzle layout before procurement?

Send the site plan and effect brief through the project enquiry form. Confirm the proposed equipment schedule, drawings and scope of supply with the project team.
